Seventy years after her father’s historic flight, she crossed the last border: Laura Shepard Churchley, daughter of American in space, Alan Shepard, is among the six passengers on the Blue Origin flight in early December.

Jeff Bezos’ space company announced this Tuesday (23) its third manned flight, which will take off from West Texas on December 9.

An American celebrity, one of the hosts of the television program “Good Morning America”, Michael Strahan, was also invited by Blue Origin to make the trip.

There will also be four others passengers who paid to live this experience: businessmen Dylan Taylor and Evan Dick, and a father and son, Lane and Cameron Bess.

Blue Origin’s rocket is named New Shepard in honor of Alan Shepard .

“It’s fun to say that a real Shepard is flying a New Shepard,” said Shepard Churchley in a video released by Blue Origin.

“I’m so proud of it my father’s legacy,” he added.

Alan Shepard, who died in 23, carried out on May 5, 1961 a flight by 15 minutes in space, 15 days after the historic flight of the Soviet Iuri Gagrin, who was the first human in space.

A The daughter will not be in space much longer than her father, as Blue Origin flights only last about ten minutes in total.

The last two Blue Origin flights have brought celebrities like billionaire Bezos himself and actor William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the famous series “Star Trek”.
