A guide to understanding the dark side of the Brazilian genome

When scientists examine the DNA of the Brazilian population, they realize that there is a huge disparity between paternal and maternal lineages in the genome of Brazilian inhabitants. On the male side, there is a very high prevalence of European heritage, and indigenous heritage almost disappears; on the maternal side, there is an apparent balance between the genes of Amerindian, African and European origin.

How to explain this? what i try to do in this video is long but very complete. Spoiler: It is very difficult to explain this without taking into account the brutality of the country’s colonization process. Check it out below.
