Lois Elizabeth Edwards, 82, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Tallahassee Memory Care in Tallahassee, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Coahoma Community College Pinnacle with the Rev. Juan Self officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5-6 p.m. at Stringer-Redmon Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

Mrs. Edwards was born February 17, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles and Libby Scruggs. She attended Coahoma Agricultural High School and Alcorn State University. Mrs. Edwards was a retired educator. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., The Versatile Club and was a long-time organist for Metropolitan Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwards.

Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Barbara Edwards of Tallahassee, Fla.; son, Marlon Edwards of Memphis, Tenn.; grandsons, Marlon Edwards Jr. and Marc Edwards, both of Memphis, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Isaiah Edwards (Dorothy) of Olympia Fields, Ill.; nephew, Javarro Edwards (Tiffany) of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and other relatives, friends and special caregivers.
