Despite heat index readings of 110 degrees plus, the No. 24 Delta State University football team continued preparations for the upcoming season, as the Statesmen worked out in helmets and shorts for over two-and-a-half hours on the practice fields adjacent to Parker Field-McCool Stadium. 

"It was another solid day of work," DSU head coach Ron Roberts stated. "Our guys are really starting to understand what we want out of them and I see a little more momentum each session."

While not singling out individual players, coach Roberts was pleased with the effort the offensive and defensive lines gave on Tuesday. 

"The anchor of any football team is its offensive and defensive lines," Roberts added. "Winning on Saturday's in the fall starts now and I believe our players understand that and have brought the right attitude out to this field."

DSU will continue fall camp today with another session in helmets and shoulder pads. Practice begins at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
