The Cleveland10-year-old All-Stars earned a berth to the state tournament in Hattiesburg as they defeated Carthage 15-1 to finish third in the Dixie Youth 10-year-old North Region Baseball Tournament at Bear Pen Park.
The win was huge considering the fact that Cleveland lost to Kosciusko 7-3 and Iuka 13-8 on Sunday.
In Monday’s game, Trace Steadman led the way with two hits and three runs scored, followed by Blake Miller and John Maggio with two hits and two runs each, Landon Howard with two hits and a run scored, Cannon Esch with a hit and two runs scored, Frank Proctor and Anthony Davis with a hit and a run scored each and Rashad Harbin with two runs scored.
The state tournament in Hattiesburg is set to start on Saturday with Cleveland scheduled to play the No. 3 team from the South. Game times have yet to be announced.
8-year-old Coach Pitch State Tournament
The Cleveland Eastside 8-year-old All-Stars saw their season come to an end as they lost to Carthage 9-1 in an elimination game Saturday evening at Pascagoula. Cleveland East ended up going 0-2 in the tournament.
Dixie Boys State Baseball Tournament
The Cleveland All-Stars were swept in the Dixie Boys State Tournament at Laurel as they lost to Kosciusko 9-3 on Saturday and Petal 11-1 on Sunday.
