The Cleveland teams got off to great starts in the Dixie Youth North Region Baseball Tournaments at Pear Pen Park in Cleveland this weekend.

The Cleveland 9-year-old All-Stars won their first two games of the 9-year-old North Region Tournament by defeating Kosciusko 13-3 on Friday and Washington County 9-1 Saturday afternoon.

In Friday’s game, Eli Stallings led Cleveland with three runs scored, followed by Cedric Gardner with two runs scored and Jacob Dodd, Spence Martin, Trey Williamson, Cross Crowe, Shane Huskey, Nolan Horton, Riley Smith and Paul O’Neal with a run each.

In Saturday’s game, Horton led the way for Cleveland with two runs scored, followed by O’Neal, Ty Morgan, Zach Willingham, Smith, Huskey, Gardner and Martin with a run each.

Cleveland’s next game of the tournament was scheduled for 5 p.m. but the score wasn’t available by press time. Cleveland will play Sunday at 1 p.m. regardless of the outcome.

In the 10-year-old North Region Tournament, the Cleveland 10-year-old All-Stars defeated Roy Campanella 15-1 on Friday and Washington County 5-3 on Saturday.

In Friday’s action, Blake Miller led Cleveland with three runs scored, followed by Trace Steadman, Frank Proctor and John Maggio with two runs each and Cannon Esch, Anthony Davis, Mitchell Norquist, Rashad Harbin, Owen Jackson and Colllins Tabb with a run each.

In Saturday’s action, Miller led Cleveland again with three hits including a double with two runs scored, followed by Patrick Saxon with a hit and a run scored, Jackson and Tabb with a run scored each and Esch with a hit.

Cleveland will play again Sunday at 1 p.m.
