Thursday July 1st, was my daughter’s seventh birthday.

Celebrating the day I thought back to when she was only a few days old and my mother made the trip to my apartment to see her. This was a particular interesting and heart touching day because my mother has complications due to diabetes and it’s very difficult for her to walk. What made this day so special was how I watched my mother climb step after step to make it to my second floor apartment to hold her granddaughter.

I witnessed the pain she felt, but I also witnessed how she didn’t allow her moments of inconvenience to stop her from reaching her goal.

Thinking about my mother led me to the story on the woman with the issue of blood. I thought about how she suffered for years with a problem, but when presented with the opportunity to get to someone who could fix her situation, she did everything in her power to get to that point.

In life we have to be like the woman with the issue of blood and even my mother for that matter. When faced with what may seem to be insurmountable odds, we have to grit our teeth, stick our chest out and press our way through the things that seem to stand in our way.

Like the woman who had to fight her way through the crowd, we to have to fight our way through our circumstances. Due to the greatness of the crowd, it took determination and desperation for this woman to press through the mass of people to just simply touch Jesus.

I know in life we come across obstacles that can seem so huge that we can’t go over, through, under or around it. It’s at times like these when we have to operate in faith and understand that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Having the drive to keep going when the people around you are telling you to quit means to have an attitude that operates in the can as oppose to the can’t.

As you continue to grow in Christ I pray we come to be more like my mother and the woman with the issue of blood. No matter where you are never allow what you see to hinder what you can believe God for.

Keep the faith and stay encouraged.
