Bayou 45, Carroll Academy 0

The Bayou Academy Colts started the 2014 season in dominant fashion shutting out the Carroll Academy Rebels 45-0.

The Colts are now 1-0 and the Rebels are 0-1.

William Hood had a big night as he rushed for four touchdowns and returned an interception for a touchdown to lead the Colts. Weber Herbison displayed some of his great speed for the Colts with 75-yard punt return for a touchdown and over 100 yards receiving for a touchdown.

Bayou will travel to West Helena, Ark. to play Desoto at 7 p.m. Friday.

Ruleville 24, West Tally 22

The Ruleville Central Tigers kicked off the season with a two-point win over the West Tallahatchie Choctaws in Ruleville Friday to start the season 1-0.

No stats were available by press time for the Ruleville Central Tigers, but Michael Williams, Michael Harris, Markevion Quinn and Duwan Harris all scored touchdowns.

Ruleville (1-0) will be back in action at 7 p.m. Friday at home against the Broad Street Jaguars.

Briarfield 36, NSA 12

The Briarfield Rebels made the trek to North Sunflower Academy Friday night and came away with the victory in 8-man football action.

Briarfield led 22-6 at halftime.

Mitch Ramage led the ground attack with 38 yards and a touchdown on six carries, followed by Austin Redwine with rushing touchdown.

Bennett Boykin finished with three kickoff returns for 106 yards to aid NSA, followed by Dylan Lofton with one catch for 27 yards.

Caleb Dyche led the defense with 11 total tackles, followed by Bo Dawson with eight total tackles and Boykin with seven total tackles.

NSA (0-1) will travel to play Mt. Salus Christian in Clinton at 7 p.m. Friday.

Charleston 39, West Bolivar 0

The West Bolivar High School Eagles suffered a lopsided loss to the Charleston High School Tigers Friday in Charleston to open the football season.

Charleston led 20-0 at halftime.

Jermaine Jones rushed for 56 yards on six carries to lead the Eagles' ground game, while Tyshawn Conway completed 3-of-7 passes for 52 yards to lead the air attack.

Dekeenan Boyd caught two receptions for 32 yards and Rodriquez Bush had one reception for 20 yards to lead all West Bolivar receivers.

Ladarius Ford led the Eagles defense with 11 tackles, followed by Christopher King with eight tackles.

West Bolivar (0-1) will host Cleveland at 7 p.m. Friday.

Leland 49, Ray Brooks 0

The Leland High Cubs destroyed the Ray Brooks Tigers Friday night in the season opener in Leland.

The Cubs are now 1-0 while the Tigers fell to 0-1. No stats were available for the Tigers by press time.

Ray Brooks will travel to O'Bannon Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Lewisburg 35, JFK 0

The John F. Kennedy Hornets opened the season at home against 5A Lewisburg and came up on the short end of the stick as the Patriots shut the Hornets out 35-0.

The Patriots are now 1-0 and the Hornets are 0-1. Stats for JFK were not available by press time.

JFK will be back in action Friday at 7 p.m. against East Side in Cleveland.
