Cleveland West 10s still alive

The Cleveland West 10-year-old All-Stars are still alive in the Dixie Youth AAA (10-year-old) State Baseball Tournament in Mendenhall.

Cleveland West is currently 3-1 in its first four games. Cleveland West opened its tournament play on Saturday by defeating Purvis 7-2 and Laurel American 11-0. Cleveland West fell into the loser’s bracket on Sunday by falling to Pascagoula 12-8 but fought back on Monday with a 15-0 win over Indianola.

Spencer Horton, Larson Ingram, Parker Harris and Jack Cartwright have anchored Cleveland’s pitching through the whole tournament.

Everyone on the roster has contributed in the tournament as Cleveland West has outscored its opponents 41-14 thus far.

Cleveland West will play Kosciusko tonight in the semifinals at 6 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Wednesday.

Cleveland East goes 2-2 at state

The Cleveland East 12-year-old All-Stars went 2-2 in the Dixie Youth “O” Zone State Baseball Tournament in Kosciusko this weekend.

Cleveland East lost to Poplarville 8-3 in the first game but defeated Washington County by forfeit on Saturday. On Sunday, Cleveland East defeated Carthage 16-6 but lost to Kosciusko 11-4.

The top arms for Cleveland East on the mound during the tournament were Tyler Felston, Taraje Dorsey, Malik Pates Tyler Fields and Joseph Perez.

The hitters that anchored Cleveland East at the plate were Pates, Jacobe Randle, Jadarrius Randle, Jamarius Griffin, Orlando Truss, Fred Watson, Tayshawn Watson, Dorsey and Felston.
