Fire destroys several businesses

A fire in Shaw caused the loss of several area businesses.

Around midnight Wednesday, Shaw Police and Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Mason Street.

"Shaw Auto, J. C. Spirits and Hermans Car Care were burned down completely. We responded to the fire around 12 a.m. and we were able to put it out around 3 a.m.," said Tim Conico, Shaw fire chief.

"Fire station five in Cleveland aided us with the fire," he added.

Police Chief Anthony Gibson said he believes the fire began with Hermans Car Care.

The incident is under investigation. The Bolivar Commercial will publish more information as it becomes available.
