Cleveland West wins big in Day 1

Cleveland West earned an impressive 13-3 win over the Clarksdale All-Stars in the first day of the Dixie Youth 10-year-old District 1 Baseball Tournament.

Cleveland got a great effort on the mound from three pitchers, as Jack Cartwright, Spencer Horton and Trey Birge throw quality innings for Cleveland West.

Justin Joel socked three hits including a triple with three runs to lead Cleveland West, followed by Birge with a home run and three runs, Larson Ingram with two hits including a triple and two runs scored, Cartwright with two hits and a run scored, Will Burroughs with two hits including a triple and a run, Spencer Horton with a hit and a run and Parker Harris with a run.

Cleveland West will play Washington County A at 5:30 p.m. tonight in a winner’s bracket game.

Humphreys Co. 11, Cleveland East 9

The Cleveland East All-Stars suffered a tough luck loss to the Humphreys County All-Stars in the first day of the Dixie Youth 10-year-old District 1 Baseball Tournament Monday evening.

Cleveland East held a 9-8 lead after the first four innings, but Humphreys County scored three runs in the fifth to secure the win.

Charles White Jr. and Jacobe Nailor scored two runs each to lead Cleveland East.

Cleveland East will take on Greenville North in an elimination game today at 5:30 p.m.
