The jamboree is set to start at 10 a.m. with the last game scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Each contest will be slated for two 24-minute halves with a running clock. The clock will only stop during the last four minutes of each half.
Teams participating in the event will include: West Bolivar, East Side, Shaw, Ruleville, Hollandale Simmons, South Delta, Humphreys County, Rosa Fort, Leflore County, Amanda Elzy, Union County (Tenn.) and Memphis Hamilton.
East Side High School head coach Kendrick Woodard said the day should be filled with great football action and the fans should be in for a real treat.
"It's always good to see good quality football,” Woodard said. “Our guys have been working hard for three weeks and this is always a good opportunity to get on the field and come together and see where you are as a team.
"We have about 55 guys out right now and they are excited about Saturday. We lost a lot of skill guys from last season so we will be rebuilding with some young guys. We will be strong up front on the offensive line and that will be our anchor. On Saturday we want to get as many guys a chance to play as possible to see what we have" Woodard added.
West Bolivar head coach Joac Williams said for him and his staff the spring game is all about evaluation.
"We have some returning players, but for us it is all about evaluating players and seeing who is ready to play and what we have to work of during the summer months to get ready for the fall," said Williams.
Currently Williams has 30 players out for the spring.
"For me the spring is not a big issue. We work hard, and we want the guys to play hard, but again for us it's about our overall team evaluation," added Williams.
