Funeral service was at noon Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Greater New Birth Church in Milwaukee, Wis., with Bishop R.J. Burt officiating. Visitation had begun at 10 a.m.
She was born on July 24, 1948, in Cleveland to Rev. John and Marie Voss.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Old St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education in the Cleveland Public Schools.
At 19, she moved to Milwaukee and became a certified nursing assistant, working at Lutheran Manor Nursing Home and New Perspective Nursing Home. She later opened Elite Nursing Service.
She was a member of Greater New Birth Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty James and a brother, Andrew Voss.
She is survived by her children, Roderick Voss, Cheryl Brown, Monica McDowell and Keokuk Voss, all of Milwaukee; sisters, Bonnie Johnson and Margrie McGhee, both of Cleveland, and Linda Curb of Denver, Colo.; brother, Willison Voss of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, family and acquaintances.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Youngblood Jr., Deshawn Voss, Calvin Wlliams, Telvin Voss, George Whitley and Derrick McDowell.
