Bayou takes 1-0 series lead

The bats came to life for the Bayou Academy Colts in game one of their first round series in the AA State Baseball Playoffs with the Manchester Mavericks Tuesday in Yazoo City.

Bayou defeated Manchester 16-9. The Colts improved to 19-7

Parker Caston tagged a three-run homer and drove in four runs to lead the Colts at the plate, followed by Parker Hudson with a double and four RBIs, Chantz Arbuckle with four hits and a RBI, Cole Hutchinson with two hits, Weber Herbison with three hits and three RBIs, Trevor Runnels with two hits and three RBIs and Tyler Kitchings with a RBI-double.

Runnels earned the win on the mound for Bayou. Caston and Arbuckle pitched in relief for the Colts.

Bayou and Manchester will return to the diamond on Thursday for game two in Cleveland. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be played immediately after.
