The Shaw Police Department has been forced to vacate its building due to concerns from the health department.

After a plumbing issue, officers were relocated to city hall while the old city hall building was being renovated.

However, according to Shaw Police Chief Anthony Gibson, the old city hall building has also been condemned and has a great deal of damage, including the roof, and has no running water.

Because of its location, officers don't have access to a phone and are using their personal cell phones to make and receive calls on behalf of the police department.

As of Tuesday, Gibson reported he and the other officers had moved to a building next to city hall that he personally was in the process of renovating.

When asked about the discrepancy over which building officers would be able to move into, Mayor Lamar Franks refused to comment.
