The Rosedale Police Department and the Bolivar County Sheriff Department responded to a call Monday morning, which was initially reported as a possible hostage situation.

According to Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams, deputies responded to a call around 10 a.m. from a woman, who said she was being held hostage.

"When we received the call, the young lady said that it was a hostage situation but when we responded to the call, he had already released the lady," said Williams.

Eddie Dudley, 28, of Rosedale allegedly held his wife captive on Second Street in Rosedale.

According to scanner chatter Dudley was reported to be armed.

"Rosedale Police Department did charge him with something but I am not sure what they charged him with. When we got there, he came out and cooperated with us. It was not really a big deal," said Williams.

He was charged with domestic violence and threatening an officer.

"No one was hurt in the situation. When deputies arrived on the scene, he had already let her go. It was just a domestic disturbance between two people. It was between he and his wife," said Williams.

Williams said Dudley was cooperative and his deputies were just simply there to assist Rosedale Police.

The Rosedale police chief was unavailable for comment.
