Ardean Slaughter, 89, of Merigold died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou with Rev. Derrick L. Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Bright Star Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Brinson Funeral Home followed by family hour from 5-7 p.m.

Survivors include children, Beatrice Benson and Shirley Parrish, both of Queens, N.Y., Minister Mae Lou Barr of Cleveland, Mattie Fulton of Arvada, Colo., Andrew Slaughter of Denver, Colo., Almorris Slaughter and Mercedes Mitchell, both of Memphis, Tenn., Isaiah Slaughter of Leesville, La., Prentiss Slaughter of Choctaw, Valerie Sudds of Shreveport, La., and Antonio Slaughter and Clifton Slaughter, both of Merigold; sister Vera Ross of Florissant, Mo.; two brothers John Henry Franklin of Memphis, Tenn., and Charles “Moon” Anderson of Merigold; a special niece; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
