larksdale native and Delta State University junior center Seneca Walton was recognized for her outstanding play by the Gulf South Conference Coaches as she earned GSC Player of the Year honors.

Walton has reached several milestones in the 2013-14 campaign, including 700 and 800-career points and 500-career rebounds. Most recently, Walton surpassed 900-career points and 600-career rebounds in Delta State's 68-43 win over Valdosta State. She has recorded 13 double-doubles, which puts her in a tie for 19th in nation in that category.

Sophomore guard Chelsey Rhodes joined Walton on the All-GSC First Team. The Monticello, Ark., native has been the driving force behind the DSU offense at the guard position as she has ranked in the top ten in the conference all season in scoring.

Delta State opens Gulf South Conference Tournament action on today against West Alabama. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University in Homewood, Ala.
