A fire Saturday night left a house destroyed and a firefighter injured.

According to Fire Inspector Gene Bishop the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 623 S. Davis St. around 11 p.m. and they stayed until midnight.

"The cause is undetermined and the damage was extensive," said Bishop.

Eddie Dixon had been living in the house, however there was no heat or electricity.

While fighting the fire, a firefighter was burned when tar landed on his neck.

"He's O.K. He was treated at the hospital," said Bishop.
