1A Girls North Half Playoffs

JFK Girls 54, Ingomar 38

The John F. Kennedy Lady Hornets earned another win as they defeated the Ingomar Lady Falcons in the quarterfinals of the 1A Girls North Half Playoffs Thursday night at Pine Grove in Ripley.

JFK improved to a perfect 28-0.

Frederica Haywood scored 21 points with 11 rebounds and two steals to lead the Lady Hornets, followed by Ieysha Mays with 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

JFK will play West Union at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the semifinals. If JFK wins, the Lady Hornets will advance to the championship game on Saturday. A win tonight would also give JFK a berth into the state tournament in Jackson.

Pine Grove Girls 47, Ray Brooks 38

The Ray Brooks Lady Tigers saw their season come to an end as they lost to the Pine Grove Lady Panthers in the quarterfinals of the 1A North Half Girls Basketball Playoffs Thursday at Pine Grove in Ripley.

T’Kyra Hicks led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, followed by Markelia Cross with 12 points.

Ray Brooks ended its season at 20-11.

1A Boys North Half Playoffs

Shaw Boys 67, Ashland 54

The Shaw High School Hawks inched their way one step closer to a berth in the state tournament in Jackson by defeating the Ashland Blue Devils in the quarterfinals of the 1A North Half Boys Playoffs in Biggersville Thursday night.

Shaw improved to 22-7. The Hawks will play the Coffeeville Pirates tonight in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. in Biggersville. A win tonight will put Shaw in the title game on Saturday at 7 p.m. and give the team a berth in the state tournament.

Jermarquis Stimage led the Hawks with 20 points, followed by Octavious Stimage with 14 points and Malik Walker and Andre Pruitt with 10 points each.

4A Girls North Half Playoffs

CHS Girls 45, Ripley 39

The Cleveland High School Lady Wildcats moved one step closer to their goal of reaching the state tournament in Jackson as they defeated the Ripley Lady Tigers in the quarterfinals of the 4A North Half Girls Basketball Playoffs in Fulton Thursday night.

Cleveland improved to 20-12. Cleveland will play Gentry tonight at 6 p.m. If Cleveland wins, the team will play in the championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m. and earn a berth to the state tournament in Jackson.

Taylor Collins led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals, followed by McKinnon Skeen with 14 points and Lauren Ashley Collins with 11 points.

3A Boys North Half Playoffs

East Side Boys 62, Belmont 35

The East Side Trojans continued their dominance by defeating the Belmont High School Cardinals in the quarterfinals of the 3A North Half Playoffs in Aberdeen Thursday night.

East Side improved to 24-5. John Paul Davis led the Trojans with 16 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks, followed by Clarence Stewart with 11 points and a 3-of-7 effort from 3-point land, Bobby Jones with 11 points and eight rebounds and Barron Burns with 11 points.

East Side will play Aberdeen tonight in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. in Aberdeen. If East Side wins, the team will play in the championship game on Saturday with the tip-off at 7 p.m. A win tonight would also give East Side a berth in the state tournament in Jackson.

3A North Half Girls Playoffs

East Side Girls 62, Kossuth 52

The East Side Trojanettes earned another big win by defeating the Kossuth Lady Aggies in the quarterfinals of the 3A North Half Playoffs in Booneville Thursday night.

East Side improved to 22-6. Keisha Cotton led the Trojanettes with 17 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks, followed by Carvacier Sanders with 16 points and eight rebounds, Shammia Love with 16 points and four assists and Lashawn Palmer with eight points.

East Side will play Belmont tonight in Booneville in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. If East Side wins, the team will play in the championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m. A win tonight would also give East Side a berth into the state tournament in Jackson.

Holly Springs Girls 58, Ruleville 48

The Ruleville Central Lady Tigers saw their season come to an end as they lost to the Holly Springs Lady Hawks in the quarterfinals of the 3A North Half Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday in Booneville.

Shakira Singleton led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, followed by Robrieka Finn with 12 points and Tatianna Collins with eight points.

Ruleville finished its season at 20-10.

2A North Half Girls Playoffs

Potts Camp 74, West Bolivar 27

The West Bolivar Lady Eagles’ dream season came to a close as they lost to the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the 2A North Half Girls Basketball Tournament at Coahoma County in Clarksdale.

Ashley Cooper led the Lady Eagles with eight points, followed by Rachael Hudson with eight points.

West Bolivar ended its season at 15-15.
