Simmons Boys 57, West Bolivar 38

The West Bolivar Eagles fell to the Simmons High School Blue Devils in the championship game of the Region 3-2A Boys Basketball Tournament Friday in Leland.

The Eagles dropped to 17-14. West Bolivar was in the game most of night as the Eagles went on a 5-0 run the began at the end of the third quarter to move to within four points at 38-34 with 7:15 left to play. Simmons found its groove on offense and defense by outscoring Wet Bolivar 19-4 the rest of the way.

Ladarius Tucker led the Eagles with 14 points.

West Bolivar will play Bruce in the first round of the 2A North Half Playoffs on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Rosedale

Region 3-1A Tournament

Broad Street Boys 82, JFK 77

The John F. Kennedy Hornets held a nine point lead midway through the fourth quarter, but watched as the Broad Street Jaguars clawed their way back into the game to take a 82-77 win in the consolation game of the Region 3-1A Boys Basketball Tournament in Benoit Friday night.

B.J. Hall led Broad Street with 24 points, followed by Michael Williams with 23 points, Dorsey and Flo Robinson with 15 points each.

Octavius Taylor led JFK with 24 points, followed by Fred Haywood with 21 points, Ladarius Johnson with 10 points and Ricky Fleming with nine points.

The Jaguars (12-13) will travel to play Smithville Tuesday, and the Hornets (7-19) will travel to play Coffeeville at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the 1A North Half Playoffs.

Coldwater Girls 56, Shaw 27

The Shaw Lady Hawks fell to Coldwater Friday in the consolation game of the Region 3-1A Girls Basketball Tournament in Benoit.

The Lady Hawks fell to 4-22 and will now travel to play Coffeeville in the first round Monday at 7 p.m.

Jacaria Smith led the Lady Hawks with 11 points.

Region 3-3A Tournament

Ruleville Girls 71, O’Bannon 36

The Ruleville Central Lady Tigers picked a decisive win over the O’Bannon Lady Greenwave in the consolation game of the Region 3-3A Girls Basketball Tournament Friday night in Lexington.

Ruleville improved to 18-9.

Shakira Singleton led the Lady Tigers with 23 points, followed by Robrieka Finn with 18 points, Tatianna Collins with 15 points and Rodshequia Walls with 13 points.

Ruleville will travel to Pontotoc to play South Pontotoc High School in the first round of the 3A North Half Girls Tournament Monday at 7 p.m.

Ruleville Boys 70, Humphreys Co. 64

The Ruleville Central Tigers earned a hard fought win over the Humphreys County Cowboys in the consolation game of the Region 3-3A Boys Basketball Tournament Friday night in Lexington.

Ruleville improved to 13-13.

Tyquan Rule scored 22 points to lead Tigers, followed Kadarius Phillips with 18 points.

Ruleville will hit the road to play Kemper County on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Region 3-4A Tournament

Cleveland Girls 48, Greenwood 39

The Cleveland High Lady Wildcats took care of business Friday as they defeated the Greenwood Lady Bulldogs in the consolation game of the Region 3-4A girls basketball tournament at Yazoo County High School in Yazoo City.

Cleveland improved to 18-12 and will travel to play Leake Central in Carthage at 7 p.m. Monday in the first round of the 4A North Half Playoffs.

McKinnon Skeen led Cleveland with 15 points and seven rebounds, followed by Lauren Ashley Collins with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Yazoo Co. Boys 61, Cleveland 52

The Cleveland High School Wildcats came up short against the Yazoo County Panthers in the consolation game of the Region 3-4A boys basketball tournament Friday night at Yazoo County High School.

The Wildcats fell to 4-22. Desmond McAbee led the Wildcats with 11 points, followed by Antario Miller and Ellis Townsend with eight points.

Cleveland will hit the road on Tuesday to play Leake Central in Carthage for the first round of the 4A North Half Playoffs at 6 p.m.
