The Delta Music Institute will host a benefit for the 10 students selected to travel to Washington, D.C., in order to attend the educational program “I Am Every Woman: The Women of Soul.”

The fundraiser will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cleveland Country Club.

The funds raised at the benefit will go towards all travel expenses for the students.

The DMI All-Stars with special guest Tricia Walker will perform select music made famous by Mississippi Grammy artists.

Jessica Faith, one of the three national winners in the Grammy Amplify Contest, will also be performing as well as recording artist for Fighting Okra Records, Justin Boatman.

The 10 students who were selected to attend the trip to Washington, D.C,. will attend the educational program on March 6 at the White House. The students will also attend several tours of Washington.

“The students have been selected by faculty and staff,” said DMI Director Tricia Walker. “Different students selected all over the country will be there. It will be an opportunity for our talented students to go to workshops centered around Women of Soul.”

Entrance into the fundraiser is free and there will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Donations will be accepted at the door.

“We just want to ask the community for their support because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity” said Walker, “and we are just so thankful to the Grammy Museum at LA Live for presenting this educational program.”
