Bolivar County is full of talent on the basketball court.

That was evident when all-region teams were selected on Saturday as three players earned Player of the Year honors for their respective regions.

Cleveland High School’s McKinnon Skeen was named Region 3-4A Girls Player of the Year, Ruleville Central ‘s Robrieka Finn was named Region 3-3A Girls Player of the Year and East Side High School’s John Paul Davis was named Region 3-3A Boys Player of the Year.

Skeen, a senior shooting guard, is currently averaging 17.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. She has recorded double-figures in point in all but three of her games this year. Skeen’s production is a big reason Cleveland has won its last six in a row as the team enters the Region 3-4A Playoffs with a 17-11 record.

Finn, a sophomore shooting guard, has been spectacular for the Lady Tigers by scoring 16 points while dishing out an impressive seven assists per game. She has averaged five rebounds and three steals a game as she has led Ruleville to a solid 17-8 record this season.

Davis, a forward, has been a true senior leader for the East Side Trojans as he has scored 18 points while pulling down 10.1 rebounds per game. Davis’ steady leadership has helped East Side put together a terrific 20-5 record heading into the Region 3-3A Tournament.

East Side head basketball coach Leroy Cotton was also named Coach of the Year in Region 3-3A in girls basketball.

In Region 3-4A , Cleveland’s Lauren Ashley Collins and Katelyn Thompson joined Skeen on the all-region girls team, while teammates Taylor Collins and Brittany Brown earned honorable mention honors.
