The Friends of the Bolivar County Library System provides funds and volunteers to support the library in its mission to serve people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
"The preparation for the gala is kind of a two-part thing. We have sponsorships to sponsor the library and then we have the gala. It's an opportunity for the community to gather and it's a thank you from the friends for the sponsors," said Mimi Clark, treasurer of the Friends of the Bolivar County Library System.
Clark said the gala is an opportunity for others to see the library and the different items that have been purchased through this fundraiser and others.
"You can see all of the things these fundraisers have bought and paid for. Two years ago we raised the money to get a new circulation desk and so that was a major expense we've raised money for.
"This year we are hoping to completely refurbish the nonfiction room. We've also done things for the other branches and try to spread the money around so it's not just for the Cleveland branch," said Clark.
To refurbish the nonfiction room will cost $22,000.
The gala is set to take place at the Robinson Carpenter Memorial Library in Cleveland on Friday from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at any of the eight libraries in Bolivar County.
One ticket for the wine pull is $15 and 2 for $25.
"We'd like for people to donate wine and it's not too late. We'd love a variety—you never know what you're going to get with a wine pull," said Clark.
Tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the gala.
Friends are asking that individuals who desire to donate wine, to bring the wine in advance and the purchase can be used as tax exemption.
Donation forms are available at Cecil’s Package Store, Lee Street Package Store and Ware Wine and Spirits.
There is no specific attire for this event and children are welcomed to come as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
