Doris J. Bussell Jennings, 78, of Morris, Ala., died Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

The family will have visitation at the New Gardendale Funeral Home in Gardendale, Ala., on Friday, January 17, 2014, from 4-7 p.m.

The funeral will be at the funeral home on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 10 a.m.

Doris was born in Calhoun County and graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland. She and her husband Kenneth moved to Cullman, Ala. where they raised their three sons. Doris retired from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1995 and actively pursued her interest in art. She painted watercolors, oils, and acrylics and enjoyed participating in art shows where she met many talented and interesting people. She was well known amongst her friends and admirers for her beautiful pictures made from dried flowers. She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the country with her sisters.

Doris was predeceased by her son, David H. Jennings; her parents, Harvey and Julia Bussell; and her sisters, Emogene Bussell Fulcher, Esther Nance and Ruth Nance

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth R. Jennings Sr.; sons, Kenneth R. Jennings Jr. and D. Keith Jennings (Joanna); grandchildren, Hollie Pate (Brian), Kenneth R. Jennings III (Hope) and Joshua D. Jennings; great-grandchildren, Jake Inglosi, Weston Kaiser, Gauge Pate, Ethan Jennings, Cameron Jennings, Zoey Peters and Samantha Johnson; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Don Piatt, Greg Crowe, Ronnie Fulcher, Josh Jennings, Kenny Jennings, and Terry Smith.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at the Palliative Care Unit at UAB and Vitas Hospice in Fultondale for their support for her and her family during the last weeks of her life.
