East Side Girls 66, Humphreys 40

The East Side Trojanettes opened Region 3-3A competition with a victory over the Humphreys County Cowgirls Friday night in Cleveland.

East Side improved to 9-4 with a 1-0 mark in the region.

Carvarcier Sanders led the Trojanettes with 20 points, followed by Asiah Ward with 14 points and Keisha Cotton with 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks.

East Side will travel to Lexington to play McClain on Tuesday.

West Bolivar Girls 54, Simmons 29

The West Bolivar Eagles turned in an impressive showing in their win against the Simmons High School Lady Blue Devils in Region 3-2A action Friday night.

West Bolivar improved to 7-11 with a 2-0 mark in the region. Jermelia Silas went 8-of-13 from the floor and scored 16 points with six rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles, followed by Ashley Cooper with 13 points and six rebounds and Tra’Kala Robinson with eight points and Rachel Hudson with four points, nine steals and four assists.

West Bolivar will host South Delta in Rosedale on Friday.

Deer Creek Girls 41, NSA 31

The North Sunflower Academy Lady Rebels came up short against the Deer Creek School Lady Warriors in District 2-A action Friday night in Drew.

NSA fell to 4-12 with a 1-5 mark in the district.

Shelbi Smith led the Rebels with 10 points and five rebounds, followed by Jimmie Whatley with nine points and five rebounds and Amery Hocutt with five points, four rebounds and four assists.

NSA will hit the road to Lake Providence, La. on Tuesday to play Briarfield in another district game.

NSA Boys 47, Deer Creek 33

The North Sunflower Academy Rebels defeated the Deer Creek Warriors in District 2-A action Friday night in Drew.

NSA improved to 10-6 with a 4-2 mark in the district.

Colton Moon led the Rebels with 15 points and nine assists, followed by Lucas Garrett with 14 points and six rebounds, Jerry Mitchell with 11 points and two assists and Ronny Henley with five points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

NSA will hit the road to Lake Providence, La. on Tuesday to play Briarfield in another district game.

Humphreys Co. Boys 49, Boys, East Side 47

The East Side Trojans had a tough night as they fell in a heartbreaker to the Humphreys County Cowboys in Region 3-3A action at the D.M. Gymnasium on the campus of East Side High School Friday night.

East Side fell to 11-3. John Paul Davis led the Trojans with 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, followed by Charles Jackson with 10 points.

East Side will travel to Lexington to play McClain on Tuesday.

Shaw Boys 60, Broad Street 50

The Shaw High School Hawks defeated the Broad Street Jaguars in Region 3-1A action Friday evening in Shaw.

Shaw improved to 11-5 with a 3-1 mark in the region, while Broad Street fell to 5-9 with a 0-2 mark in the region.

Octavius Stimage led the Hawks with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists, followed by Malik Walker with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals and Zedric Bass with 13 points, eight rebounds, five steals, three blocks and three assists.

B.J. Hall led the Jaguars with 15 points, followed by Flo Robinson with 13 points.

NSA Jr. Girls 29, Deer Creek 10

The North Sunflower Academy Junior High Lady Rebels won big against the Deer Creek School Junior High Lady Warriors Friday night in Drew.

NSA improved to 8-8 with a 4-2 mark in district.

Shelbi Smith led the Lady Rebels with eight points and 10 rebounds, followed by Brittany Burchfield with eight points and five assists, Lane Andrews with four points and four rebounds and Jimmie Whatley with four points, eight points and eight assists.

NSA will hit the road to Lake Providence, La. on Tuesday to play Briarfield in another district game.

Deer Creek Jr. Boys 39, NSA 20

The North Sunflower Academy Junior High Rebels had a tough time Friday as they lost to the Deer Creek School Junior Warriors in District 2-A action at Drew.

Jacolby Brown led the Rebels with 11 points, followed by Austen Redwine with six points and five rebounds.

NSA will hit the road to Lake Providence, La. on Tuesday to play Briarfield in another district game.
