The Cleveland Fire Department raced to the Comfort Inn on U.S. Highway 61 after a call reporting a fire was received at 12:31 p.m. Friday.

Each room in the hotel has a heating and cooling combination unit and the unit in room 314 caught fire.

According to Fire Inspector Gene Bishop no one was occupying the room at the time and the sprinkler head in the room activated and controlled the flames.

"There was not a lot of fire damage. There was smoke and water damage," said Bishop.

The fire department left the scene at 1:35 p.m. after the fire was completely out.
