DREW — A slow start proved to be the downfall for the North Sunflower Academy Rebels against the Greenville Christian Saints here in District 2-A boys basketball action Friday night.

The Rebels fell behind 12-1 in the first couple of minutes of the contest, and couldn’t catch up as they lost 61-51. NSA fell to 9-4 with a 3-1 mark in the district.

NSA didn’t give up as the Rebels tried to get back in the game by cutting the deficit down to 14-10 after the first quarter of action. Every time NSA would catch up, however, Greenville Christian would go on a run to stretch the lead out again. The Saints led 40-25 at halftime and was able to stay ahead of the Rebels in the second half.

“The boys fought hard but with the athleticism Greenville Christian had it was difficult to get back in the game,” NSA head coach George Roberson said. “They had a bigger bench, and they pressed us and wore us down.”

Ronny Henley turned in a good effort for NSA in the loss as he scored 25 points with 16 rebounds. Colton Moon scored 18 points and dished out eight assists to aid the Rebels.
