The Robinson-Carpenter Memorial Library Youth Services and Teen Advisory Group will hold Celebrate Christmas with TAG at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library.

This program will feature songs and dances, associated with Christmas, by teens in the Teen Advisory Group.

The Bolivar County Library System Assistant Director Phillip Carter will also participate in the event to introduce him to the teens

“I actually have one adult in it (the program), and that’s our new Assistant Director Phillip Carter,” said Bobbie Matheney with Bolivar County Library Service’s Youth Services, “just to introduce him to the teens so they know who he is and know that he is instrumental.”

The Teen Advisory Group, which is a volunteer group of teens that help sponsor different programs at the library, voted on ideas and decided to have a musical Christmas program.

Some of the performances will include a song and dance to “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,” a performance of “Carol of the Bells,” a dance to the tune “Swan Lake,” “Jingle Bells” played on bells, a performance on the piano and more.

The teens will also be doing the introductions and speaking during the program.

“It’s just something to celebrate Christmas and have something here at the library again,” said Matheney.

The teens have been encouraged to invite their family and the public is also invited to attend.

“This is a good experience,” said Matheney. “That’s what the Teen Advisory Group is all about, trying to build positive images with the teens.”

Any teens interested in participating in the event, who are not a part of the Teen Advisory Group, are welcome to join in by contacting Bobbie Matheney at 662-843-2774.
