Junior Seneca Walton passed the 400-career rebound mark grabbing 10 in the victory to push her total to 409.
The Lady Statesmen (4-1) wasted no time and streaked out to a 16-2 lead over the Lady Blazers (5-5); sophomore Chelsey Rhodes led the way posting eight quick points on 3-of-3 shooting, two of which were deep behind the arc.
DSU did not miss its first shot of the contest, 7-of-7 from the floor, until the 15:42 mark; BU responded off the miss with a Candler Gregory old-fashioned three-point play to bring the score total to 16-5 with 15:52 remaining.
The Green-and-White ended the half on 19-of-41 (.463) shooting from the floor, while holding the Blazers to just 3-of-19 (.158) in the first half.
Rhodes finished the half 4-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from behind the arc; Shanae Govan tallied six points and tied her career-high in assists with seven. Walton brought in five rebounds to lead the Lady Statesmen.
Belhaven came out in the second half with a renewed vigor holding Delta State to 6-of-24 (.250) from the field and for a stretch of 9:54 without a field goal.
The Lady Statesmen however continued to clamp down defensively holding the Lady Blazers to just six field goals in the second half.
Rhodes finished with 16 points and four rebounds, while sophomore Becca Ruckes tallied 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 8 boards. Govan finished the night with a career-high nine assists.
Erika LeFlore led BU with a team-high 12 points and six rebounds, Ariel Wilson chipped in 11 points.
