Eugene Holloway Sr., 89, of Mound Bayou died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, officiated by Rev. Earl V. Hall Sr. and followed by interment in Mound Bayou Memorial Garden under the direction of Delta Burial Corporation of Mound Bayou.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Reuben Z. Riddle Chapel in Mound Bayou and on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Holloway was born December 23, 1923, in Merigold, the last old 10 children born to the late Seab and Leander Holloway. After moving his family to Mound Bayou in 1955, Eugene confessed a hope in Christ and joined St. Peter M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend O.T. Thrash.
He was in the Navy.
He is survived by his sister Virginia Coleman of Mound Bayou; two sons, Eugene Holloway Jr. of Winchesters, Va., and Willie B. Holloway of Toledo, Ohio; seven daughters, Deloris Holloway of Los Angeles, Florence Jewell of Rockville, Md., Rosetta Holloway-Bell of Chicago, Lavern Holloway of Pearl, Dian Coleman of Memphis and Dr. Linda J.M. Holloway of Huntsville, Ala..; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
