Mrs. Shoops was a native of Coxheath, Ala. She lived in Cleveland for a number of years and moved to Vicksburg in the late 1950s. She had been a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church in Cleveland, then Immanuel Baptist Church and later Woodlawn Baptist Church where she was an active member having served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Ladies Sunday School class and Senior Saints. She enjoyed being a mother and a wife. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.
Mrs. Shoops was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Almeta Hudson; her sister Beatrice H. Stewart; and brothers Elmer V. Hudson and Carl W. Hudson.
She is survived by her husband James W. Shoops of Vicksburg; her son Rick Shoops (Myra) of Cloudcroft, N.M.; her daughter Pam Barnes (Harry) of Vicksburg; her grandchildren Larry Shoops (Paula), Wesley Barnes (Kim), Matthews Barnes, Renza Anthony and other Josh Thompson, A.J. Barnes and other James Pierce; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at Woodlawn Baptist Church with her nephew Rev. Scott Sasser officiating.
Visitations will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service at Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at New Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland.
Pallbearers will be Larry Shoops, Wesley Barnes, A.J. Barnes, Matthews Barnes, Richard Anthony and Reef Anthony.
