Some businesses closed for holiday

Columbus Day will be celebrated on Monday and several local businesses, government offices, banks, and schools will be closed in observance of the holiday.

The Bolivar Commercial will be open for regular office hours on Monday.

All federal government offices in Bolivar County will be closed.

Beulah Town Hall, Boyle Town Hall, Cleveland City Hall, Drew City Hall, Gunnison Town Hall, Merigold City Hall, Mound Bayou City Hall, Pace Town Hall, Renova Town Hall, Rosedale City Hall, Ruleville City Hall, and Shelby City Hall will all be open for regular business hours on Monday.

Benoit Town Hall will be closed.

Officials at Shaw were unsure if they would be open Monday.

Attempts to contact Doddsville and Alligator town halls were unsuccessful.

All of Bolivar County banks will be closed on Monday. They will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday.

This includes: Bank of Benoit, Bank of Bolivar County, Cleveland State Bank, Jefferson Bank, Guaranty Bank and Trust, Renasant Bank, Planters Bank and Trust, State Bank and Trust, Regions Bank and Southern Bancorp.

Cleveland School District, Benoit School District, Mound Bayou School District, North Bolivar School District, Shaw School District, and West Bolivar School District will all be open on Monday.

Bayou Academy and Presbyterian Day School will also be open on Monday.

North Sunflower Academy will be closed.

Delta State University offices will be open Monday and classes will meet as usual.

Resourceful Environmental Services Inc. will operate regular trash removal on Monday.
