Three residents of Cleveland were arrested and charged after an intense investigation by the Cleveland Police Department.

"I would like to personally commend investigator Melvin Sparks for his dogged determination in solving this case," said Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham.

Lamarcus Matthews, 31, Monek Jones, 32, and Devonna Hutton, 27, were charged with strong armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping.

On Aug. 18 one of the females called the CPD claiming that a person had attempted to rape her and she fought them off by hitting them over the head with a lamp.

Around the same time, Bolivar Medical Center reported a male subject had come to the ER and had been beaten severely over the head.

After an investigation the CPD determined that the female subject and two other accomplices allegedly beat and robbed the male victim and was attempting to cover up their crime by making a false accusation against the male victim.

"I would also like to thank the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department and the US Marshalls in aiding us with apprehending these subjects," said Bingham.

The three have been arrested, charged, and are being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility awaiting their initial court appearance.
