Ware was shot by L.M. Birge in front of her home late Tuesday morning.
After further investigation, the sheriff’s department discovered that Ware and Birge's daughter, whose name was unknown by Sherriff Kelvin Williams, got into an altercation when Birge became involved.
According to the sheriff, Ware's mother, Santonia Crowe, tried to stop Birge and was hit in the face with the gun.
Williams said it was speculated that Ware was pregnant when she was killed, however, the Mississippi Crime Lab confirmed that she was not.
Williams said Birge has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
During his initial court appearance Thursday morning, Birge was given a $500,000 bond and remains incarcerated.
Williams said his officers are still investigating the reasoning behind the shooting.
The Bolivar Commercial will have more as the story develops.
