Many parents have been terrified by the recent rumors of a kidnapping spree happening around Bolivar County.

Starting on Facebook, the rumors began to spread like wildfire throughout social media by people liking and sharing the information with others.

The supposed kidnapping involves two white males driving a white van throughout Bolivar County under the pretense that they are selling books.

These men then supposedly kidnap any children that walk up to the van or answer the door of their homes.

"This is absolutely not true," said Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham.

After investigating reports, the CPD discovered that the rumors of the kidnappers were false.

"Just because people put things on social media doesn't mean it is exactly true," said Bingham.
