The Arena Football League currently has two players with local ties competing on the gridiron.

Boyle native Ben Stallings is currently playing fullback for the Utah Blaze, while former DSU wide receiver L.J. Castile is playing for the New Orleans VooDoo.

Stallings, who played high school football at Bayou Academy and Indianola Academy and college football at Delta State University and Lambuth, currently leads the Blaze in rushing with 112 yards and eight touchdowns on 40 carries. Stallings is ninth in the Arena League in rushing yards and tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns. Stallings is currently in his third season at Utah and has racked up 449 rushing yards with 31 touchdowns on 131 carries for an average of 3.4 yards a carry in his career.

Castile, who was DSU’s leading receiver in 2010 with 67 catches for 900 yards with 13 touchdowns, has caught six passes for 98 yards with four touchdowns this season He also has a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown on defense. Castile is also playing his third season in the AFL and has caught 33 TD passes in his career.
