Thursday night the Chickasaw Council of Tallaha District of Boy Scouts of America hosted a fundraising event at the home of Paul and Lucy Janoush.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Tallaha District Covers Bolivar, Coahoma, Quitman and Sunflower Counties. Including Cleveland and Clarksdale, MS

"I was overwhelmed with the amount of support the community has shown the Boy Scouts.

We very much appreciate everything the community does, as well as all the Boy Scouts do," said Paul Janoush.

While guests enjoyed pork tenderloin, prepared by District Chairman Tim Janoush, and complimentary drinks; the DMI All-Stars band, made up of students from Delta State University's Delta Music Institute played during the first half of the evening.

Several highlights of the evening include DSU President Bill Laforge picking up an electric guitar and performing, as well as Joe Janoush accompanying the DMI All-Stars on harmonica.

During second half of the evening Grammy award-winning musician, Jimbo Mathus performed with his band Jimbo Mathus Band.

Mathus is also an eagle scout.

Paul Janoush awarded all major contributors and thanked those who support the Boy Scouts of America.

Over $67,000 was raised and about 300 people were in attendance.
