Charleston sweep Ruleville

The Ruleville Central Tigers could not muster what they needed to extend its first round 3A State Playoff Series against the Charleston Tigers.

The Tigers had a rough day at the park on Saturday as they fell to Charleston 16-1 in four innings at Ruleville. The Tigers lost game one to Charleston 7-2 on Friday in Charleston.

2A Playoffs

Simmons Sweeps West Bolivar

The West Bolivar Eagles saw its season come to an end as they were swept by the Simmons Blue Devils in best-of-three series in the first round of the 2A State Baseball Playoffs this weekend

West Bolivar lost 6-3 in game one at Hollandale on Friday and fell short at Rosedale in game two on Saturday 7-2.

In the first game, Kylan Johnson suffered the tough luck loss on the mound for the Eagles as he went the distance. Tashawn Conway roped two hits to lead the Eagles at the plate, followed by Lamarcus Phillips with a hit and a run.

In the second game, the Eagles actually had a 2-1 lead after four innings but Simmons was able to score two runs in the fifth and four runs in the seventh to pick up the win and complete the series sweep.

Conway suffered the loss on the mound for West Bolivar as he went six innings. Lamarus Usry socked two hits to lead the Eagles at the plate, followed by Conway and Tyrrique Gaitors with a hit each and Johnson with two runs.

West Bolivar ended its season at 10-4.

O’Bannon sweeps Broad Street

O’Bannon swept Broad Street in two straight games in Greenville Friday. O’Bannon won the first game 24-5 and the second game 6-4.

Demarcus Alexander started for Broad Street in the first game with Traterrious Britton closing out the game.

Britton drilled two hits, and Javaris McClenton tagged a hit with two RBIs to lead the Jaguars in game one.

In game two, Britton went the full seven innings for the Jaguars. Britton and Brandon Ray tagged a hit each to lead Broad Street at the plate.

Broad Street ended its season at 7-5.

1A Playoffs

Houlka sweeps Shaw

The Shaw High School Hawks saw their year come to a halt as they were swept by the Houlka Wildcats this weekend in the first round of the 1A State Baseball Playoffs.

Shaw lost game one 18-5 Friday night at Houlka, and lost 9-0 in game two Saturday afternoon at Shaw. Shaw ended its year at 7-10.

TCP sweeps Ray Brooks

Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles swept the Ray Brooks Tigers in the first round of the 1A State Baseball Playoffs Friday in Tupelo.

TCP won the first game 18-0 and the second game 16-0.

Regular Season

Calhoun City 7, Cleveland 4

The Cleveland High School Wildcats saw their 21-game winning streak come to an end as they lost to Calhoun City Friday night at Calhoun City.

Cleveland fell to 23-2.

Trace Bray suffer the loss on the mound as he pitched four innings. Matt Hardman tossed the final three innings for Cleveland.

Jared Hunt roped two hits and drove in a run to lead Cleveland, followed by Dalton Lambre with two hits and a run and Marshall Boggs with a three-run double.

Cleveland will play Tishomingo County in the second round of the 4A State Baseball Playoffs with the first game of the best-of-three series set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
