If a ticket could be an indication of admiration than Cliff Medders should have no doubt of how the people of the Delta feel about him.

Organizers of a fundraiser for Medders have had to print more tickets as the first batch was sold out.

“I now have more tickets,” reported organizer Chris Williams. “Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the barbecue dinner and auction can call me at 662-390-7997 or Clint Russell at 662-299-4360.”

The Barbecue Dinner and Auction Benefiting Cliff Medders will be held on May 11 at Grover’s Corner in downtown Cleveland.

The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with take-out orders available and the auction will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket donation is $15 per plate.

Local merchants and individuals have donated a variety of items for the auction.

Among the items is an autographed hat and baseball, signed by Mississippi State Coaches, Dan Mullen and John Cohen.

All proceeds from the dinner and auction are to benefit Medders’ medical care and expenses.

Medders, 33, suffers from a rare form of cancer and a new treatment is available in Amsterdam.

Williams said getting over there is expensive and the benefit is a way for friends and family to help with those costs.

“If we raise $3,000, that’s $3,000 more than he had. If we raise $20,000, that’s $20,000 more than he had.

“We are also selling Boston butts at $30 each. Anyone interested can call me,” said Williams.

Donations should be made to Cliff Medders Benefit Fund and mailed to State Bank and Trust in Cleveland or to:
