Booneville 61, East Side 56
The East Side Trojans battled hard but came up short in the end as they lost to the Booneville High School Blue Devils in the semifinals of the 3A North Half Playoffs.
The Trojans trailed 28-19. East Side was able to cut to deficit to two points at one point in the game, but that was as close as the Trojans could get.
“I’m proud of the guys’ effort,” East Side head basketball coach Leroy Cotton said. “Booneville about 800 fans and for my guys to not buckle under that pressure, they did really well.”
Jon Paul Davis led the Trojans with 16 points with all of his points coming in the second half. Brant Williams aided East Side with 10 points, followed by Andrew Banyon with nine.
East Side ended its season at 22-10.
3A North Half Girls Playoffs
Ripley 64, Ruleville 51
The Ripley High School Lady Tigers defeated the Ruleville Central Lady Tigers in the semifinals of the 3A North Half Playoffs Friday evening.
Ripley led 31-26 at halftime.
Brunetta Cockrell led Ruleville with 19 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Shakira Singleton with 11 points.
Ruleville ended its season at 19-8.
1A North Half Boys Playoffs
Coldwater 92, Shaw 74
The Shaw High School Hawks came up short in their quest to make it to the state tournament as they fell to the Coldwater Cougars in the semifinals of the 1A North Half Playoffs at Ingomar Friday night.
Shaw’s defense had a tough through out the night as Coldwater led 51-32 at halftime. The Hawks never could catch up with the Cougars.
Shaw committed 26 fouls, while Coldwater committed with 15 fouls.
Shaw went 14-of-23 from the free throw line, while Coldwater went 28-of-39 at the charity stripe.
Jermarquis Stimage scored 26 points to lead the Hawks, followed by Malik Walker with 16 points, Ledavious Rice with 12 points and Octavious Stimage with 10 points.
The Hawks ended their season at 25-6.
