Peggy B. Sledge and Sylvia C. Wilson recently received promotions at the annual board meeting of the Cleveland State Bank/Cleveland State Bancorp, Inc.

Sledge was promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President/Compliance Officer and Wilson, in conjunction with her other responsibilities as corporate secretary and assistant vice president, was promoted to the position of Trust Officer.

Sledge, a 1969 graduate of Stone County High School in Wiggins, earned an associate degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1971 and a bachelor of science in English education from Delta State College in 1973.

Sledge taught English in the public school systems of Indianola, Cleveland, and Drew. In 1980, she joined the staff of Delta State University, working first in the Office of Public Information. She then served as Director of Career Services and Placement.

From 1990-1996, Sledge preformed the duties of Director of Student Financial Assistance.

In 1997, she was appointed as Director of State Student Financial Assistance at the Institutions of Higher Learning in Jackson.

In 2004, she became the Vice President of Enrollment Management at Mississippi Delta Community College.

After a brief retirement, Sledge joined the staff of the Cleveland State Bank (CSB) in 2009, where she quickly found her way into the field of bank compliance.

Sledge, who grew up in Wiggins, is married to Wilson Sledge of Cleveland; the couple has three children and five grandchildren. The Sledges are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland.

Sledge brings considerable financial and administrative skills to CSB. These talents dovetail with the bank’s need for a knowledgeable regulatory officer and form a sound foundation from which to meet the challenges of monitoring bank policies and procedures in order to comply with the sometimes rapidly changing nature of governmental and financial regulations and laws.

Wilson graduated from Cleveland High School in 1973 and attended Delta State University.

She joined the staff of the Cleveland State Bank as a bookkeeper and proof operator in 1974.

Wilson was promoted to the lending staff as a customer service representative and loan secretary in 1980.

She became the IRA administrator in 1998 and the executive assistant and corporate secretary in 1999.

Wilson was promoted to assistant vice president in 2004. She has 39 years of banking experience.

A Cleveland native, Wilson has two children, Taylor Wilson of Oxford and Jane Snyder of Destin, Florida, and a granddaughter, Gabriella Wilson, also of Oxford.

Wilson is a member of the National Notary Association and the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Cleveland.

Wilson’s continued success at the CSB is framed by her steadfast work ethic, her readiness to serve the public, and her dedication to the bank.

Wilson’s informed assistance is equally valued by the public as well as her coworkers. Wilson’s tenure at the CSB is not only characteristic of a hometown bank—it reflects its soul.
