“We all want to live in a home that fits our needs and lifestyle,” said Baker. "Unfortunately, most of us don’t discuss or think about certain aspects of our homes until a crisis occurs and it becomes obvious we are living in a place that no longer matches our needs and abilities.”
Baker emphasized, “We often forget our homes are aging along with us, and in many cases, our homes aren’t aging as well as we are.”
Baker, chapter Vice President Catherine A. Wolfe and chapter Secretary Dr. Eulah L. Peterson were among the AARP volunteers from across Mississippi who participated in The Home Fit Volunteer training at the AARP state office in Jackson last August.
According to Ivory L. Craig, AARP associate state director for community outreach, “The Home Fit workshops offer information and tips to help make our homes convenient and livable as we age.”
The Mound Bayou volunteers are now trained and available to provide Home Fit workshops throughout Congressional District 2 — including most of Jackson, Clarksdale, Greenville, Greenwood, Clinton and Vicksburg.
