The Lady Wildcats battled hard but fell to the Senatobia Lady Warriors 3-0 in Region 3-4A action. Cleveland fell to 0-2 in the region. Due to forfeit victories against Clarksdale and Winona, the Lady Wildcats’ record now stands at 3-7. Senatobia improved to 7-3-1 with a 1-1 mark in the region.
Cleveland fell behind 2-0 going into halftime. The Lady Wildcats stepped up their effort and improved in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
“The second half was much better,” Lady Wildcats head coach Steve Wies said. “I wasn’t really pleased with the performance in the first half, but the second half I was certainly pleased with their level of performance as a team.
“There are certain little things that we worked on that I’m asking them to incorporate into their play, and a lot of them were doing that tonight. I was very pleased that they were able to execute those little things. That’s a good sign to me.”
Cleveland’s offense recorded just two shots on goal, while Senatobia was able to pile up 10 shots on goal. Goalie Kolby Little played a great game for Cleveland as she recorded seven saves to help keep the game in reach for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Olive Branch to take on Lewisburg in another region showdown. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
