West Bolivar’s William Lloyd and East Side’s Michael Hurns will be competing for the North in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football game on Saturday at Milner Stadium on the campus of Gulfport High School in Gulfport.

Hurns, a senior linebacker, had another great year for the Trojans by recording a team-high 178 total tackles with three sacks and an interception to help lead East Side to a 14-1 record with a trip to the 3A North Half Title game. Over the last two years, he has recorded 402 tackles and helped lead East Side to a 28-2 record during that stretch.

Lloyd, a senior running back and linebacker, had another great all around year this season on offense and defense. Lloyd rushed for 634 yards with eight touchdowns on 106 carries and caught 16 passes for 245 yards with three touchdowns on offense and recorded 139 tackles with a sack and two fumble recoveries on defense. Lloyd has recorded over 130 tackles in each of the last three years. During those three years, the Eagles are 38-7 with a 2A State Championship in 2011. This past year, West Bolivar went 11-3 and advanced to the third round of the 2A State Playoffs.

Kickoff for Saturday’s All-Star game is set for 12 p.m.
