No the call didn’t come from the governor or the president of the United States, it came from the big, big man — Kris Kringle, a.k.a. Santa Claus.
As the newspaper has done for the last few years, we will team up with Santa and his Naughty and Nice Department at the North Pole to get children’s Christmas wish letters to him in a timely manner.
Delta children are encouraged to send their letters to Santa Claus to The Bolivar Commercial, where they will be delivered via a secret Elf method to Santa’s mailroom and then separated for the Nice or Naughty List.
“Few children from the Delta land on the naughty list,” said Santa. “Mississippi Delta children are fun, caring and have that bright innocent spirit that truly represents the meaning of Christmas. I always look forward to working with The Bolivar Commercial and hearing from these wonderful children.”
In addition, Santa will personally answer all e-mails sent to him at The Bolivar Commercial.
The e-mail address, which is slightly different than in past years, is email@example.com. Mail letters to P.O. Box 1050, Cleveland, MS 38732; or bring them to 821 N. Chrisman Ave., Cleveland. The deadline to send letters or e-mails is Dec. 20.
Again as in the past, Santa has given the newspaper the okay to publish these wish lists for all to enjoy the wonderment of innocent hearts.
The letters will be printed in the Dec. 23 edition.
