Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Vernon Memorial Apostolic Church in Cleveland, officiated by Bishop Fredrick Adams. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at W.S. Brandon Mortuary in Cleveland and from noon- 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
He was born on April 8, 1960, in Beulah to Abe Williams and Nora Morris Russell. He graduated high school at Christian Cornerstone School in Townsend, Ga. He was a former employee of the Delta Bus Lines in Greenville, the Bolivar County Community Action Agency and Tackett Farms in Sunflower.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Vernon Memorial Apostolic Faith Church in Mound Bayou under the leadership of District Elder T. J. Melton. He later moved his membership to join the ministry with his wife Dorothy, who he wed on January 24, 1981, at Miracle Deliverance Church in Pace where he was anointed, licensed-ordained Minister of Music.
He was a skillful musician and taught many other musicians while offering his service to many churches. He is the founder of the Morris Project Group and will be remembered for his musical skill, generosity, big smiles and loving heart.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nora Morris Russell; a brother; and two sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Dorothy; daughter, Shebronda Morris; sons, Aderian (Kimberly) Birge, Demaris (Kandique) Birge, Levoris (Melissa) Morris, and Christen Z. Morris, all of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Pastor Rosie Birge, of Cleveland; three brothers, James Williams, of Pace, Daniel Russell and Roosevelt Russell, both of Cleveland; sisters, Ramel Taylor and Ethel Jean Dillard, both of Cleveland; grandchildren, Adrenika, Trevion, Levoris Jr., Laterrionous, Talyiah and Macey; and a host of nieces nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends.
