For the past 32 years the Make-A-Wish Foundation has been helping terminally ill children’s wildest dreams come true. On April 29, 1980 Christopher Greicius became the first child honored by the foundation and they continue to fulfill the wishes of children nationwide.
Make-A-Wish Mississippi is carrying on this great tradition with its first Walk for Wishes on Saturday in Cleveland at Delta State's fitness trial. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 8:00 a.m. Participants may register at ms.wish.org or by mail.
Make-A-Wish Mississippi hopes to raise $5,000, which is the average cost of one child’s wish. Make-A-Wish Mississippi would like for everyone to come out and support this effort to grant the wishes of Bolivar County children.
Catherine Lavender, Make-A-Wish Mississippi director, said it is not too late to join the walk and she encourages everyone to participate and then head out to Octoberfest.
In order to grant the child’s wish the foundation asks for $5, $10 or $25 sponsors.
