Bolivar grand jury hands down fall indictments

The charges listed in indictments handed down by a Bolivar County grand jury last week included, murder, multiple possession charges and other violent and non-violent offenses.

Now, with the Fall 2012 session of the Bolivar County Second Judicial District set to start on Nov. 5, the district attorney's office is busy getting up to speed on many of these as well as prior cases. Two of the grand jury's fall indictments contain murder charges.

Jerry Undre Stewart, 34, of Clarksdale was indicted on charges of capital murder and possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon. These charges stem from the Jan. 31, 2012, murder of Quenton Deon McKay, whose body was found by a farmer on an isolated portion of Howden Lake Road, a gravel road located about a mile and a half northeast of Duncan. McKay's body was riddled with gun shot wounds to the head and chest and his hands were duct taped behind his body.

Dontorius Ware, aka Torie, 22, of 315 Dossey St. in Shaw, was indicted on charges of murder stemming from the incident that ended with the death of Roy Lee Washington on Christmas night 2011. Ware's bond, which was set at $100,000, was issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Albert Rushing, 33, of 110 Searcy Ave. in Cleveland, and Ladarius Byrd, 23, of 815 Arnold Ave. are accused of a grand larceny that occurred on Aug. 15, 2012. Rushing is free on a $5,800 bond from Lawson Bail Bonding and Byrd is free on a $6,200 bond, also from Lawson Bail Bonding.

Shawn Palmer, 34, of 1013 Moore St. in Cleveland is accused of possession of a stolen firearm. The weapon in question was stolen from Wal-Mart in Cleveland and was found in Palmer's possession on Feb. 29, 2012. He is currently free on a $5,000 bond from Crawford Bail Bonding Co.

Demetrius Earvin, Lazerrick Howard and Lucas Edwards, all of Indianola are each charged with felony shoplifting. Stemming from the incident, which occurred on May 15, 2012, the men are accused of stealing two air-conditioning units and a pack of t-shirts from the Cleveland Wal-Mart store. Edwards is also accused of being a habitual offender.

Antonio Henry, age unknown, of Birmingham, Ala. is accused of armed robbery and possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon stemming from an incident that occurred on June 18, 2012. He also was indicted on a second incident of possession of a deadly weapon that occurred on June 20.

Shenika White, age and address unknown, is charged with felony shoplifting. The event occurred on Feb. 20, 2012, where three LCD televisions were stolen from the Wal-Mart store in Cleveland.

Justin Cooper of 203 Ronaldman Rd. in Cleveland is charged with the May 3, 2012, burglary of an auto on Fifth Avenue in Cleveland. He is currently out on a $3,000 bond issued by Crawford Bail Bonding.

Jayvious Johnson, 20, of 613 Clark St. in Cleveland, and Keith Adams, 19, of 312 Carpenter St. Apt. I72 in Cleveland were indicted on armed robbery charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Feb. 15, 2012. Both men have posted a $15,000 bond each issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Virgil Jones Jr., 53, of 22 Second St. in Cleveland has been indicted on charges of felony DUI (third offense) as a habitual offender stemming from an incident that occurred on May 20, 2012.

Ricky Simpson, age and address unknown, is charged with felony shoplifting from an incident that occurred on July 6, 2012, at the Cleveland Wal-Mart where multiple miscellaneous items was reported stolen.

Jonathan Caldwell, age and address unknown, was indicted on charges of uttering forgery/false pretense. The charges stem from a $2,457 check that was presented to the Cleveland Wal-Mart on May 28, 2012. Caldwell is free on a $2,500 bond issued by Interstate Bail Bonds.

Timothy Scribner, 32, of 354 Old Ruleville Rd. in Cleveland was indicted on three charges: burglary of a business that occurred at 552 Hillcrest Cir. in Cleveland, a burglary at Hot Shot Ice in Renova and possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $15,000 and was issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Richard Taylor, 40, of P.O. Box 1465 in Cleveland has been charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon stemming from an incident that occurred on Apr. 21, 2012. He is currently out on a $5,000 bond issued by Crawford Bail Bonding.

Carmela Woodfork, 24, of 1820 Boom Place in Indianola; Karanique Reed, 19, of 1225 B.B. King Rd in Indianola; Sheal Nell Woodfork, 45, of 1000 Bottle St. in Indianola; and Sherika Woodfork, 19, of 83 Spoonbill Court in Indianola were indicted on charges of felony shoplifting in connection with an incident that occurred on May 23, 2012, at the Cleveland Wal-Mart store were 71 items were reported stolen. Sheal Nell Woodfork was also indicted on charges of felony fleeing.

Frank Hudson Jr., 48, of 322 West Head Cir. in Ruleville has been indicted on two separate charges of felony DUI, what could be his third and fourth DUI, stemming from traffic stops that occurred on Oct. 14, 2011, and again on March 2, 2012. He is free on a $5,000 bond issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Manchie Hooper, 49, of 314 South St. in Merigold, was indicted on charges of felony DUI, which could be his third, after a traffic stop that occurred on Apr. 28, 2012. He currently free on a $5,000 bond issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Sammie Smith, age and address unknown, was indicted on charges of a burglary of a dwelling that occurred on Nov. 11, 2011, at 110 Canal St. in Shaw.

Laderrick Walton, 21, 322 Grant St. in Shaw, and Violet Jones, 23, of 322 Grant St. in Shaw are charged with the aggravated assault of Roger Short that occurred on May 6, 2012, in Shaw. Walton is currently free on a $15,000 bond issued by Laswon Bail Bonding. Jones is out of custody on a $10,000 bond that was also issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

James Taylor, age and address unknown, was indicted on charges of burglary of a business. The incident in question occurred at the Quick Stop, located on U.S. Highway 61 in Shaw, on Apr. 27, 2012.

Mary Welth, age and address unknown, was indicted on four charges stemming from incidences that occurred from Feb. 2011 until Dec. 2011. The indictment reads that while employed as a homemaker for Healthcare Plus, Welth stole 16 checks belonging to Carrie Haywood and wrote them out to herself. She is charged with two counts of embezzlement and two counts of uttering forgery.

Andrae Corvette Grant, 34, of 1250 Wayside Dr. in Greenville was indicted on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was arrested on Nov. 18, 2011. Grant is currently free on a $5,000 bond issued by Crawford Bail Bonding.

Jerry Jackson Jr., 48, of 510 Lee St. is charged with simple possession of marijuana stemming from his arrest on May 19, 2012. He is currently free on a $3,500 bond issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Javarious Griffin, 22, of 200 Ken Lucas Apt. 2-A in Cleveland is charged with prescription fraud against Dr. Parvesh k. Goel. He was arrested on Jan. 30, 2012, and is free on a $3,000 bond issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Ross Dye, 23, of 1718 W. Juanita Cir. in Cleveland was indicted on charges of possession of codeine and possession of marijuana stemming from his arrest on June 19, 2012. He is currently out on a $5,600 bail issued by Davis Bail Bonding.

Willie O. Brown, 33, 826 Aloe St. in Cleveland is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Hydrocodone, possession of Alprazolam and possession of codeine stemming from his arrest on June 5, 2012. He was also indicted as a habitual offender. Brown is free on a $13,200 issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Sabastin Lee, 29, of 132 S. Bayou Apt. R in Boyle was indicted on charges of possession of cocaine stemming from his June 13, 2012, arrest. He is currently out on a $7,000 bond issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Rooseveldric Robinson, 24, of 1107 College St. in Cleveland is charged with two counts of possession of marijuana stemming from a Sept. 21, 2011, arrest.

Jerry Hubbard, 42, of 1401 Maple St. in Cleveland was indicted on two counts of prescription fraud against Dr. Dominick Trinca stemming from his Sept. 23, 2011, arrest. He is currently free on a $3,000 bond issued by Davis Bail Bonding.

Robertino Cartrai Williams, 28, of 515 Smith Hall Cir. in Pace was indicted on charges of prescription fraud stemming from his arrest on April 12, 2012. He is currently free on a $5,000 bond by Davis Bail Bonding.

Cordero Walker, 25, of 200 Ken Lucas Apt. 2-A in Cleveland is charged with possession of cocaine stemming from his Apr. 12, 2012, arrest. He is currently free on a $10,000 bail issued by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Alicia Haywood, 25, of 1118 Morgan St. in Cleveland was indicted on charges of possession of cocaine stemming from her Apr. 24, 2012, arrest.

Rickey McCraw, 34, 3353 Lewisburg Rd. in Austin, Ark., was indicted on charges of possession of morphine, possession of oxycodone and possession of marijuana stemming from his March 30, 2012, arrest. He is currently at-large on a $5,000 bond posted by Lawson Bail Bonding.

Angela Dawn Collier, 21, of 124 Leflore St. in Clarksdale is charged with possession of cocaine stemming from her March 18, 2012, arrest.

Everyone indicted by the grand jury are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
