A Drew man has been arrested and preliminarily charged with three counts of child molestation.

Mickey D. Davis, 39, of 4440 Miss. Highway 49 in Drew, was placed under arrest by the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department in Ruleville Friday afternoon after charges were filed on behalf of three female juveniles by their parents.

Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood said that Davis was driving on a suspended license and that gave them the suspicion to take him into custody.

Haywood said the investigation continues to be a “very open investigation,” and that few details regarding the case are being disclosed at this time.

Haywood also declined to provide details on where the accused molestations took place.

"Initial investigations confirmed the molestation charges and the Mississippi Department of Human Services has been called in to conduct a more thorough investigation," said Haywood. "Since DHS's level of expertise is higher than ours on these types of charges the investigation will likely be handed over to them and the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department will provide them support and back up where needed."

During his initial appearance before a judge on Tuesday, Davis was charged with three counts of child molestation, a Class A felony in Mississippi.

His bond was set at $50,000 per count for a total of $150,000.

As of presstime, Davis was still in custody at the Sunflower County Jail.

If found guilt Davis could face up to 20 years in prison on each count, but is innocent until proven guilty in court of law.

The Bolivar Commercial will have more on this case as it is made available.
